20 minutes on the S1 - Impressions of a journey

The same journey, twice a day, every day, how easy it is to become oblivious to the passing countryside and views.

We barely glance at what lies beyond the window as the train rushes a long. Lost in a world of our own, we bury our noses in the newspaper, focus our eyes on the iPhone or perhaps try catching up on a few extra minutes of sleep.

Almost as if we are in state of suspended animation, we lose track of where we are or where we’ve been. Time stands still as we wait to be transported to the place we want to go. Our goal is the destination; we don’t much care what lies between.

But suddenly, a fleeting glimpse of a passing building, a landmark along the route, or some brightly coloured graffiti catches our attention. We awake startled, disoriented and confused from our trance like state. The images merge into each other and for a moment, we are unsure.

Sounds familiar?
